Tea anyone?

Thought I'd share with you another reason I love Aldi.
A cute Tetley tea tin for only $4.99.

Love the message on it.
It came with teabags and now sits proudly in my kitchen.
It's a wintery rainy Sunday morning in nearby Sydney Town,
the perfect start to my day, a cup of tea, of course!..xx

The Twenty-Fifth Of April

The Twenty-Fifth Of April

THIS day is Anzac Day!
Made sacred by the memory
Of those who fought and died, and fought and live,
And gave the best that men may give
For love of Land. It dawns once more,
And, though on alien sea and shore
The guns are silent all,
Yet we with pride recall
The deeds which gave it immortality.
Great deeds are deathless things!
The doer dies, but not the deed,
And, when upon that fateful April day
Our Anzacs, throwing all but love away,
Gave life and limb for Honour's sake,
With Freedom tremblingly at stake,
They lit a beacon-light
Imperishable, bright,
That evermore the Nation's soul shall heed.
Not Peace, not Peace alone
Can make a nation great and good
And bring it that full stature, strength, and grace
That fit it for an age-enduring place
In men's regard. Through storm and strife
It runs to sweet and noble life;
For through its veins there runs
The valour of great sons
Who died to give it stately nationhood.
This day is Anzac Day!
Made sacred by the thrilling thought
Of those who proved their souls, it reappears;
And thus 'twill dawn, and dawn through future years
Till Time our petty deeds efface,
And others, dwelling in our place,
Tell o'er, with tongue and pen,
The glorious tale again
Of how on beach and crag the Anzacs fought.

Autumn in Sydney

Today was a perfect Autumn day in Sydney.
A sunny 21 degrees celcius and perfect to visit a market.
We took a trip to the inner city suburbs of Rozelle and Balmain and checked out the Rozelle markets.

I was in heaven.
Vintage clothing, jewellery, homewares, collectables, fresh food and so much more.

I purchased some lovely vintage clothes and a sweet necklace.
My son got a fab Ralph Lauren coat for a crazy $25.......
Had lunch outside at a great cafe, then visited the Exchange Hotel in Balmain for a cool drink.
Gorgeous interior,Old world meets parisian glamour..Loved it..

I would definetly recommend a visit to these markets,

especially on a perfect Sydney Autumn day..xx

Thinking about Wellies..

It's getting cooler in my part of th e world and it's been quite wet lately.
I'm still trying to sort out my front garden so Wellies (rainboots)have come to mind.
I have a very sad red faded polka dot pair of wellies and they are destined to be gone.
I got to thinking, Mothers Day is just around the corner and I would be so happy to get a new pair of GLAM boots to trudge through the garden with.
Just thought I'd throw a few ideas out there, just incase anyone needed a little help in thinking of what to get their wonderful mum..xx

Remembering why...

Today is Good Friday.
The beginning of the Easter long weekend.
A day when many people are happy for the extra days off work and many start those long overdue DIY projects around the home.
The Easter bunny will visit and too much chocolate will be eaten.
This Easter, I'm thinking differently.
This weekend I am making a conscious effort to remember and reflect on what this time is really about.
I hope that you and your families enjoy this break together and remember why we are celebrating Easter.
God bless..xx

75 years young...

Today is a very special day.
It is my wonderful mothers birthday.
Almost 45 years ago she selected me as her daughter.
Almost 45 years ago I was given a fabulous mother.
She may not have birthed me but she surely has loved me.
She is such a great mum.
Loving, giving, caring and always there for me.
I can't believe that today she turns 75 years young.
How blessed I feel to still have my mum around.
She is super active and never sits still.
A wonderful mother and grandmother to boot.
Love you mum and thank you for choosing me..xx

Shabby Union Jack Stool makeover..

Today I was in the mood for a little creating.
I had a plain little stool, that was yelling out for a redo.
I've admired all the gorgeous shabby styled Union Jack homewares, so I thought I'd give it a go.
I had some floral fabric scraps and plain white cotton,so to the sewing machine I went.

Such a quick and cute project.

Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but I'm happy with it.
It adds a touch of shabby whimsy to my lounge.

                                    Hope you're having a relaxed Sunday..xx

Missing you..

My eldsest son, who recently turned 18 is on his first holiday without us.
Just him and a couple of mates.
They flew to Queensland 5 days ago and unfortunetly coped the brunt of the terrible weather up there.
He still tells us he's had a good time.
I haven't !
I've never been away from my child this long and I'm seriously missing him.
When he's home, sure I nag him about cleaning his room, helping around the house etc, etc,
But I want him home.
Thank goodness he flies home tonight.
I can't wait to see his face and hug him.
His brother has missed him a LOT and the dog has been sleeping on his bed, just waiting for him.
I'm not so keen on this" kids have to grow up business", it's hard on us mums and I'd keep them with me forever if I could.
So as one child enters adulthood and I slowly get use to the transition, all I can think about is damn it, it's all gonna start again in 3 years with my next one.
Please be gentle with me boys, your mums not use to this adult thing yet.

Oh yeah, by the way, when he gets home he's DEFINETLY cleaning up that bedroom!! xx

Drizzly Sunday

It's 9am in the morning.
The rain is steadily falling.
My sweet Winston is curled up on the lounge next to me.
A lovely cup of tea at hand.
Not a creature is stirring, (the beauty of having two comatosed teenagers, who don't rise before noon).
I love a Sunday off work.
My time to sit and visit blogland.
To be inspired, have a laugh and just plain relax.
Here are a few pics from some great blogs I visited whilst sipping my tea and listening to the rain quench my garden.

The 26th of January is Australia Day.
A day to celebrate this countries greatness.
I came to Australia when I was 3 years old and it's been very good to me.
A country of freedom and choice.
I love living in Australia.
So, to this great nation I congratulate you on your special day and to all my fellow Australians, can I get an....

Brotherly Love..

Now I am not one who is really a big fan of tattoos.
I can see the beauty in the artwork and the talent of the artist, but they're just not for me.
My eldest son however, loves them.
He recently turned 18 and got a tattoo today that symbolises his love and protectiveness over his younger brother. (Cody)

He will always watch over him and protect him.
Even as a non tattoo lover I have to say, this did bring a lump to my throat.
I'm so happy my boys love and care for each other.
What more could a mum want?..xx

Duck egg blue phase..

I am loving Duck egg blue at the moment.
Any shade fulfills me.
I'm going to try and incorporate it into my new family room redo.
Here are a few pics that are giving me some colour inspiration..

Hope you're having a colour filled week.. xxx

Hot Stuff..

Whilst some parts of the world are still shivering, we are sweltering.
Today was the hottest day on record in my home town.
46.5* celcius.
That's 115.7* fahrenheit..
DAMN HOT...
There are terrible bushfires and properties lost.
Power blackouts due to the increased pressure on the electrical grid from all the air conditioners running.
I know Australia is a hot climate but this is ridiculous.
Tomorrow, we are promised much cooler temps and I know my Dog Winston will be happy to hear that.
Make sure if you're coming Down Under for a visit to bring your sunscreen, you're gonna need it.
Here's to a cooler weekend and hopefully some rain to bring the bushfires under control..xx

STOP! ...I'm NOT ready..

On Saturday the 12th my eldest son will turn 18.
18!!!!!!...
This is ridiculous.
Where did the last 18 years go?
My adorable baby, is now a gorgeous young man.
I'm not ready yet for all this to happen.
Letting go is REALLY hard for me .
I know he's really excited for this milestone to come but I could go a few more years yet.
We all know our babies have to grow up, but why so quickly?

Happy Birthday my darling son and no matter what age you are, you're still my little boy..

Love you..xx
